Coach Training & Accreditation

The four F’S of tee-ball, “FUN”, “FAIR PLAY”, “FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS” AND “FAMILY INVOLVEMENT” are an important element of teaching children and should be foremost in the mind of any coach!

Coaches should not be out there just to win at all costs, but should be there to provide positive encouragement and feedback to their players.

How Do I Prepare For An “A” Level Clinic?

What Happens At An “A” Level Clinic?

  • Participants will be given an overview of the role and responsibilities of a coach
  • New coaches learn the basics of tee-ball which will assist in the continuity of teaching methods between clubs, particularly in inter-club competitions
  • All coaches doing the “A” Level Clinic will receive a “Coaching Manual”
  • The clinic runs for approximately 4 hours in the field, followed by question time
  • There will be a break for lunch and quick drinks throughout the clinic
  • Clubs will be charged $30 per registered participant from their club
  • Full participation is required to achieve “A” Level Accreditation

What Can Participants Except To Learn?

  • How to throw correctly so as to avoid injury to the player’s arm
  • Catching skills and all aspects of fieldwork
  • How to bat correctly, e.g., directional batting
  • Sliding and base running
  • Diamond drills (there are 8 basic diamond drills which can be used at training).
  • Rotation of players on the field and in the batting line up
  • Teaching players to play as a team, not just as an individual
  • How to approach umpires about an in-game situation

What Is Involved in Running a Clinic?

  • Contact the TBAWA Chief Coach to arrange a clinic
  • If unable to acquire the minimum number of participants from your own club, TBAWA will also advertise the clinic publicly for other clubs to participate
  • Diamonds will need to be provided to play/coach on for the duration of the clinic
  • Country clubs will need to collaborate with the TBAWA Chief Coach to ensure arrangements are made for acommodation, meals, and transport (if required) for the Course Presenter, the cost of which is to be borne by the club requesting the clinic
